Seven Rules
of Motivation
Sometimes we feel so discouraged and depressed that we lose all interest in
life. This condition may persist till someone comes along and says
or does something to 'motivate' us to go on with life notwithstanding
our feelings. But for some people if there is no one to motivate at
such critical times they may even end their lives! Such is the importance
of 'motivation' in everybody's life.
Motivation is an integral part of our daily life. Because everyone
needs motivation. Only the source of motivation and the level of motivation
may differ from person to person.
But where do we get the motivation when we are in need of it? Here
are seven rules of motivation
#1 Set a major goal, but follow a path. The path
has mini goals that goes in many directions. When you learn to succeed
at mini goals, you will be motivated to challenge grand goals.
#2 Finish what you start. A half finish project
is of no use to anyone. Quitting is a habit. Develop the habit of
finishing self-motivated projects.
#3 Socialize with others of similar interest. Mutual
support is motivating. We will develop the attitudes of our five best
friends. If they are losers, we will be a looser. If they are winners,
we will be a winner. To be a cowboy we must associate with cowboys.
#4 Learn how to learn. Dependency on others for
knowledge is a slow time consuming processes. Man has the ability
to learn without instructors. In fact, when we learn the art of self-education
we will find, if not create, opportunity to find success beyond our
wildest dreams.
#5 Harmonize natural talent with interest that motivates.
Natural talent creates motivation, motivation creates persistence
and persistence gets the job done.
#6 Increase knowledge of subjects that inspires.
The more we know about a subject, the more we want to learn about
it. A self-propelled upward spiral develops.
#7 Take risk. Failure and bouncing back are elements
of motivation. Failure is a learning tool. No one has ever succeed
at anything worthwhile without a string of failures.
Discovering and developing natural talents is the source of motivation,
whether it be self-development or workplace efficiency.
People who have a vision control their destiny and lifestyle. For
people without a vision, their destiny and lifestyle is controlled
by others.
Opportunity is attracted to people with a dream. They are the first
to be hired, first to be offered opportunity, and first to be promoted.
Bigger the dream the faster doors open. People without a dream are
last to be hired, last to be promoted, and first to be laid-off in
a force reduction. For non-dreamers, doors remain closed. "WHY?"
People with a dream act differently than non-dreamers. Dreamers develop
an attitude that radiates energy, they have a sense of purpose and
meaning to their lives. Radiant energy is an attitude that bosses
like and to which they offer opportunity. This is how the impossible
becomes possible.
Be Encouraged!
